In recent years, scuba diving has become increasingly popular and NAUI is one of the leading organizations that promotes this activity. The association is not-for-profit and offers many certification programs. However, it only has a few locations throughout Asia compared to PADI. Its divers must be willing to travel a bit to receive training.
NAUI (Non-Profit Organization)
In the 1950s, the NAUI was established. The majority of the instructors are volunteer. Some have been involved in scuba diving since the beginning. NAUI began training instructors not necessarily scuba divers in 1960s. NAUI was established by volunteers from several countries, including Canada. NAUI eventually became an independent corporation. Internationally, NAUI has expanded its reach through alliances and partnerships with DAN International as well as Performance Freediving International. NAUI's first marketing campaign was "The Definition for Diving", which began in the early 1970s. The organization was able to certify over 5,000 instructors by 1979.
The organization's goals are to promote safe diving and protect aquatic environments. It allows divers to be part of a group of underwater explorers. The website and social platforms of the organization allow divers to share their stories, photos and videos.
It offers many certification programs
NAUI offers several certification programs for those who want to become certified divers. These courses cover the basics of diving equipment, as well as topics that are relevant to scuba diving safety. It is also useful for anyone who wants to learn how to spearfish, and how to collect specimens. The course will provide information on safety concerns and specific techniques that are involved in spearfishing or collecting.

NAUI has a mobile application that lets users quickly and easily change their certification cards. It also offers useful tools to plan dives and continue training. NAUI's roots are deep in recreational diving. They were founded in Los Angeles, in the 1950s. A few decades later, it was brought to the U.S. by the Sea Hunt TV show, which attracted many Californians to become certified divers.
It's taught in Asia at a select few locations
PADI is the only certification course offered by NAUI. However, NAUI courses are taught in fewer countries than SSI. Both organizations teach life-saving skills and offer the same certification courses. The only difference is that NAUI and PADI are both non-profit agencies.
NAUI began in the 1950s in Los Angeles. The magazine Skin Diver introduced the sport to America, and a TV show called Sea Hunt attracted aspiring divers in the state.
It has fewer destinations than PADI
PADI and NAUI are very different despite their similarities. The way that the organization teaches, and the certification requirements are some of the most significant differences. Although they are similar in many ways, they differ mainly in teaching methods and in their emphasis on improving diver skills. PADI or NAUI is a matter of personal preference and attitude. PADI and NAUI are both excellent organizations that offer training and certification.
The two organizations have similar training requirements for their scuba diver certifications, but NAUI places greater emphasis on safety. The requirements for both organizations are similar in that they require their divers to complete three stages: the basic course, the advanced course and the professional course. Although the requirements for each stage of certification may vary from one center to another, generally NAUI divers must complete six dives above 40 meters while PADI divers must complete five below 30 meters. Each organization requires students to complete 40 dives at 40 meters to earn their Divemaster certification.

It's more practical than PADI
PADI, NAUI and ASA both offer scuba divers certifications. However there are some differences. PADI, on the other hand, is a not-for-profit organization. NAUI is a charitable organization. Both allow divers to be certified and can teach safety and life-saving lessons. They differ in their certification requirements and training methods.
PADI, a world-famous diver training organisation, is internationally recognized. John Cronin & Ralph Erickson created it in 1966. Both men were NAUI instructors. They also developed flexible courses for divers. PADI's courses cover everything you need to know about diving, from basic to advanced recreational diving. PADI is a professional organization with over 137,000 members.
