Learning activities in the pool

Rangers also learn navigation skills and basic underwater search techniques. You will also learn how a compass works, as well as grid and square search techniques to find underwater treasures. The pool will provide a place for Rangers to practice their skills. Once they've mastered each skill, they'll begin learning to swim a mile in the water with their mask, fins, and snorkel. Rangers learn how to use basic first aid and how to recognize signs of stress or trouble while diving.

To learn, you must perform a front or back flip under water. Another activity requires candidates to grab a face mask from the floor of the pool with their teeth and perform five bobs underwater. If you fail to complete a Bob, the mask will be dropped or broken, and the swimmers may touch the sides.
