UIUC Ice Arena

The UIUC Ice Arena is home to many ice skating opportunities. The synchronized skate team of the UIUC is nationally ranked. They have had performers compete at the international and national level. Tickets to UIUC's Spring Show are $5 for general seating and $7 for reserved seating.

The University of Illinois Ice Arena, also known as the Big Pond, is an ice skating arena in Champaign, Illinois. It is owned the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It hosts many events, including ice hockey.

Opportunities for skating

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's ice arena is open to the general public. Here are some steps to take if you would like to host a group activity at the rink. First, you need to make a reservation. Visit the Illini Union's RSO Office in Room 284 to make a reservation. Remember to include a list with names and contact information when you reserve ice-time. You'll also need to arrange for an instructor to visit the rink to answer questions during the rental period.

Center Ice Cafe

The University of Illinois Ice Arena has a Center Ice Cafe that is open to all. The cafe, located next to the Customer Service Office offers food and beverages. There's also an Ice Arena Pro Shop with a wide variety of hockey and skating accessories.


Free skate trainers

Champaign is home to the University of Illinois Ice Arena. It is owned the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The ice arena can be accessed by the public throughout the year at no cost. The public can use this rink to practice their skateboarding and figure skating skills.

Spring show

The UIUC Ice Arena is getting closer to the Spring Show. This event will feature performances both from local skaters and a nationally ranked synchronized-skating team. Many of these competitors have competed at national and global levels. Tickets to the event will be $5 for general seating and $7 for reserved seating.

Gas leak at UI Ice Arena

Following a gas leak at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's ice arena, an Illini-Alert was issued by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After Ameren Illinois crews and firefighters discovered a gas leak, the building at 406 E. Armory Ave. was evacuated. To stop further contamination, firefighters closed a sideway that leads to the arena. The leak is believed to have originated from beneath the building.
